Here's to the start of my blogging career! A place for me to share my likes, dislikes, inspirations and frustrations- all pertaining to design. I am sure I will almost always bore you with the content, I am very aware that art is subjective. The design world is vast, It could be as little as a type-face or as big as the Guggenheim, but in everyday life we co-exist with design. The aim of this blog is to acknowledge it in some way. We are privileged to live in a world so rich of colour, thought, and of course good design... And so my friends, I start with my newest post, a tad sarcastic it seems but something for you to peruse :)
This place makes me smile. So often our living is defined by the four walls we are constricted too. Yes, we may live in an insulated home, little to no back yard to compensate a safe yet banal existence for our busy lives. But seldom to do we get to celebrate a house, OUR house with our true personalities. We may add a bit of colour here, some art there, and dare I say it- clusters of plywood frames to accommodate our black and white photos. But, do we ever get the chance to express who we truly are by our home? This couple have done just that. An ode to Le Corbusier. Symmetrical in plan, symmetrical in living. Designed in the 80s by Maurice McKenzie it has morphed with the ages and it's new inhabitants Doug and Stacey Paton. Their living reflects the house's intention. This house along with it's owners are sustained in a symbiotic relationship. I can't help but feel a tad envious in this instance!
